hjEP1 Starts with the doctor arguing at the sheep dog trials that K9 should be allowed to join in. It starts to rain unexpectedly and the Dr and SJ return to the Tardis. The Dr wants to visit the met office to enquire about the strange weather and they set off for london, landing in the tube underground. It is a month before the time of the Queens 50th jubilee (November 2003) and there is much celebration. Once the jubilee celebrations are over the queen is planning to stand down for Charles to take over (she's too old!) The Dr hears curious machinery in the disused tubes (this is cybermen setting up one of their bases underground) but cannot locate where the noise is coming from. They go to the met office and speak to a weatherman, who tells the dr confidentially that he too has been noticing strange weather patterns around london, quite uncharacteric for the time of year. [The Cybermen are producing a "Butterfly effect" machine (they call it the "butterfly device?"!!) which can tip the chaotic weather system into overload. It requires 3 transmitters which work together (the middle point is centred around the new jubilee line and is their HQ). One transmitter is canary wharf, the second is around aldwych (?cleopatras needle?), the third is at the millenium dome??)] The doctor wants to examine weather records to investigate the phenomonon. The Cybermen have a human working for them in the met office who overhears the Dr and is concerned. He radios CyberHQ to let them know. Meanwhile the Dr is examining weather charts and plots the beginning of the cold fronts of the disturbances. This highlights the 3 transmitter points. The Dr realises that the weather is being manipulated. He then plots the middle point and suspects there is something important at this middle point and is about to warn Michael Fish when the bad guy comes in, armed with a gun. "Unfortunately Dr, you will not live to see Mr Fish..." - They escape somehow with the baddie on their trail and travel by tube to Canary Wharf to investigte one of the transmitters. Sneaking in though the tradesmans entrance they head up the service lift to the top floor which is just a locked door with the name of "Jubilee Cyber Services PLC". They travel back to Aldwych (or wherever) and have their first encounter with a cyber guard patrol. (End of episode) EP2 (from here on we switch between three plot strands: Dr & SJ, The Cybermen, The Met Office tracking the changes in the weather. The bloke at the met office is constantly in contact with the cybermen...) The Doctor susses out the Cyber plan. He comes up with a crappy plan to save everyone, but fails at the end of the episode, only damaging one cyberman and turning it good. It ends with the Dr admitting defeat, a massive storm created by the butterfly device and the cyberleader saying "Commence the invasion of Earth..." or something. The dr also discovers the weather devices need a very rare powerful mineral isotope to work, and the cybermen have limited supply. (This is the weakness exploited in episode 4) There is a confrontation between the DR and they cyber spy at the met office. The doctor tries to persuade him that no one will be spared when the cybermen rule the earth and that he must help the doctor. The spy is dubious but says he'll consider it... they cybermen overhear via the intercom/a bug, and decide he is to be killed. idea: dr keeps k9 busy by asking him the value of pi. he starts rabbiting on, the dr leaves and 2 hours later k9's still gabbling on to himself!! ps. it should be made clear that romana is a 3rd regeneration EP3 The Earth is invaded on the day of the golden jubilee. Street parties are interrupted by huge gales and cyber stormtroopers destroying everything. The Queen stands down, as planned, but the cyber leader is proclaimed King. We then see a few weeks into the future under the reign of the cybermen. The Doctor teams up with the good cyberman... The Dr travels to the millenium dome to visit the exhibition. The cybermen have installed a terrible weapon now at the top of Big Ben that can shoot down anything within a 50 mile radius with pinpoint accuracy. They put out a broadcast on TV to announce this, and to demonstrate their power kill their met office spy and his whole family, whose usefullness has now expired. This is how they subordinate the whole of the country to their will. EP4 Dr has his idea and breaks into millenium dome and sets up his fake Time Capsule from the future exhibition. The cybermen come to hear of it, confiscate it and listen to the tapes etc. They believe it, and mine an unstable part of London because they need the mineral to power their weather devices to conquer other cities, and the Thames crashes in and floods everything. Earth is liberated by armed forces - the weapon is deactivated (the doctor makes sure it's destroyed as he doesn't trust the Army with it!) and the few remaining cybermen above ground are overrun.. The Cyber King is ousted by a coup, fronted by the Brigadier... Emotional scene as the good cyberman is also killed by UNIT. Doctor laments the death of the only good cyberman to ever live... and everyone lives crappily ever after...
